The catechism and Bible in a year are such a wonderful gift from God , without Father Mike explaining them I would be Lost , thank you Father Mike !

Life Changing

It's Palm Sunday, 2024.  I'm in the middle of Mark's Gospel in the "Bible in a Year", which I started in February.  I'm doing a few "days" every day.  I find it difficult to pause listening.

In my life, I've been very "lost".  Some friends and family have given me a path.  This path led to listening to the "Bible in a Year".  In my 60s now, I'm ashamed at what I never absorbed in my Catholicism.  I tried reading the Bible.  I tried listening to an audio version.  BUT, Fr. Mike Schmitz has made a difference.

Fr. Mike, with his delivery, brings the Bible to life.  His personality makes a huge difference.  His prayers, where he unleashes the readings, move me.  Then, his explanations of the readings overwhelm me.  He preaches the Word, without being "preachy".

Fr. Mike talks about our "brokenness" and God's love for us.  He explains how Jesus sought ought us sinners, to bring us "home".  When he discusses the reading, and in his prayers, I feel he is talking directly to me.  It's more than moving.  It's so on target.

The Lord placed people around me to show me the way, leading to the "Bible in a Year".  Fr. Mike is helping to close this deal through his amazing energy and service to us....to me.  This is enormously life changing.

I am so grateful for those who brought me here to this point.  My path is clear.  It's on me now, with the amazing love of The Lord, through His Word and Grace and Forgiveness.

Reawakening

I am now on day 320 in my Bible in a Year journey. My daughter, who lives across the country, is on this faith journey with me. Sharing this with her, and sharing our amazement of how we can see Jesus active in our lives, has reawakened a fire in both of us! We are both nurses, and are blessed to work with patients in a hospital setting. How blessed we are to help those in need every day!I always whispered a prayer as I walked into the hospital each day. Now I pause in the chapel and pray,"Dear Jesus open my eyes, my ears, my hands and my heart to do your will today".
For Christmas, we each gifted one another with The Catechism in a Year - and so our journey in faith will continue.
Thank you Father Mike and Jeff Cavin, and all those who help with this wonderful podcast.

I finished the catechism in a year on time! I learned so much about my Catholic faith & I am a “born & raised Catholic” now in my 70’s. It was very interesting & Father Mike made it so understandable. Now plan to do the Bible. Thank you Father Mike!
